Strawberry Piña Colada

Kneaders is one of my family’s go-to breakfast spots, where home cooks enjoy their French toast, cinnamon rolls, and smoothies. I’ve made a copycat French Toast recipe, and today I’m sharing a reliable smoothie from them—the Pink Piña Colada.

It’s a sweet, creamy drink that’s not known for being healthy, but I call it breakfast anyway. It has fruit in it, so it has to count, right? On days when I want a Strawberry Piña Colada at home, this copycat recipe is great—it tastes just like the original and is much cheaper!

All the ingredients needed to make Strawberry Piña Colada smoothies.

Ingredients

IngredientWhat to Know / straightforward Swaps
Pineapple guava juiceIf you can’t find it, use half guava juice and half pineapple juice, or just pineapple juice
Cream of coconutSweet, thick, strong coconut flavor, used in tropical drinks and desserts
Pineapple sherbetSwap with pineapple sorbet for a dairy-free option
Frozen strawberries & pineappleKeeps the smoothie thick and cold
IceChills the drink and makes it thicker

Quick Tip

Cream of coconut is not the same as coconut cream. You can find cream of coconut near coconut cream, in Asian or Mexican sections, or by the cocktail mixes!

Strawberry Piña Colada Tips

  • Measuring the ingredients helps make a good smoothie. If you guess, you might end up with too much or too little.
  • Pack the frozen fruit into the measuring cup for the right amount.
  • Use a strong blender for a thick smoothie. Frozen fruit and ice need time to blend smoothly. Weaker blenders may have problems.

Quick Tip

I like drinking this Strawberry Piña Colada all in one sitting, preferably right after making it. It doesn’t sit or store well.
