If you’re wondering how to make frozen peas taste better, you’ve come to the right place! This recipe has my entire family begging for more—it’s the best pea recipe ever!
And while you might expect a long list of ingredients or a complicated method, that’s not the case here. These frozen green peas are quick and straightforward to make, and this side dish is definitely worthy of a spot on your holiday table! (I know they’ll be on mine!)

Ingredients
| Ingredient | Swap or Tip |
|---|---|
| Frozen Peas | A 10-12 oz. bag works great. I like Birdseye. No need to thaw before cooking. |
| Bacon | For crispy bacon, pick thin slices; for a chewier texture, choose thick cuts. |
| Shallot | Substitute 1/4 cup finely diced onion. |
| Garlic | If you don’t have fresh garlic, use 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder instead. |
| Olive Oil | Butter can also be used. |
| Fresh Herbs | Mint or parsley both work well. |

How To Make Frozen Peas Recipe
- Prep: Cut bacon into small pieces and slice the shallot.
- Bacon & Shallots: Heat oil in a pan. Add bacon, shallot, and garlic. Cook until the bacon is crispy and shallots are soft.
- Peas: Add frozen peas and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Lower the heat and cook.
- Finish: Remove from heat. Add herbs and lemon juice, if you like. Serve warm!
Quick Tip
How to improve frozen peas? Add a burst of freshness with a squeeze of lemon or some fresh herbs like parsley or mint.
Storage
Leftovers?
Let the peas cool, then store them in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stove or in the microwave until hot.
