White Chocolate Chex Mix
One of the snacks my boys request the most is this White Chocolate Chex Mix. I don’t blame them either; it was one of a reliable snacks growing up (and still is)!
As I’ve made this Chex mix over the years I’ve found two unique additions that put this mix over the top. Those two additions? Roasted peanuts and Captain Crunch® cereal (without the berries)! It might sound odd, but trust me, those two ingredients make this mix.
Other great things about this snack mix? It’s super fast to make (and the chocolate hardens quickly!) And another great thing is how straightforward it is to adjust. You can change around quantities, ingredients, and colors of the candies to your heart’s content!
You can change the colors of the M&M’s® to match the holiday or event you’re serving this addicting snack mix at!
Quick Tip
Did you know that white chocolate isn’t actually chocolate? The legal definition of chocolate requires cocoa solids, and white chocolate only has cocoa butter. But it’s still satisfying and most of us still think of it as chocolate!

Ingredients
These ingredients go great together, but the best part of this white chocolate snack mix is how straightforward it is to customize!
- Cereals (Rice Chex, Captain Crunch, Honey-Nut Cheerios): These provide a crunchy base and different textures to the mix. Use fresh, crispy cereal for the best flavor.
- Miniature Pretzels: They bring a salty taste that mixes nicely with the sweet.
- Nuts: Give everything a nice nutty flavor and a crunchy texture. Choose lightly salted nuts to make sure the snack mix doesn’t become too salty.
- M&M’s: These candies add a pop of color and chocolatey sweetness. You can switch out the M&Ms to make this snack mix match any holiday or theme!
- White Chocolate Chips: Adding a bit of oil when melting helps the chocolate coat the ingredients more smoothly.
How To Make White Chocolate Chex Mix
- Prepare: Line a tray with parchment paper. Use parchment for straightforward removal and cleanup.
- Mix: Combine cereals, pretzels, peanuts, and M&M’s in a bowl. Gently mix to avoid crushing the cereals.
- Melt Chocolate: Microwave white chocolate and oil for 30 seconds, stir, then in 25-second bursts until smooth.
- Combine: Pour chocolate over mix, stirring to coat evenly. Act fast before the chocolate hardens.
- Set: Spread on the tray and let harden for 10-20 minutes.
- Enjoy: Break into pieces. Store in an airtight container to keep it crunchy.

Chocolate Melting Tips
- Using high-quality white chocolate will always result in a better melt and a richer taste. My favorites are Ghirardelli® and Guittard®.
- To avoid burned white chocolate, microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds at a time, and stir it for at least 20-25 seconds in between each microwave burst. Remember, the chocolate is still melting even after it has been removed from the microwave.
- Work quickly! Because white chocolate hardens fast, mix it with the ingredients immediately after it is fully melted.
