These Skewers Are Bringing the Bang!
I can’t get enough of this Bang Bang Chicken, my whole family absolutely loves it, and it’s so quick and straightforward to make. Everything flows so well: start the rice, prep the chicken while it cooks, and whip up the sauce and salad while you wait.
When I had a bunch of chicken thighs to use up and a craving for bang bang chicken, I combined my baked chicken bites method with my classic bang bang recipe to create these skewers.
The flavors are similar, but skewers make it extra fun (because who doesn’t love food on a stick?).

Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make Bang Bang Chicken Skewers:
| Ingredient | Tips & Swaps |
|---|---|
| Chicken Thighs | Do not swap for breasts. They dry out and burn quickly under the broiler. |
| Cornstarch | Do not skip. It helps create a light crisp on the outside. |
| Sweet Chili Sauce | Add sriracha if you want more heat. |
| Mayo | Use full-fat for best flavor. It is satisfying to using Hellman’s for a high quality brand. |
| Soy Sauce | Coconut aminos can work, but the sauce will be slightly sweeter. |

Tips For Making Bang Bang Chicken Skewers
- Preparing Chicken: Trim excess fat and cut the chicken into even pieces to make sure it cooks evenly.
- Heat the Broiler Fully: Let the broiler heat completely before cooking.
- Space Skewers Apart: Avoid overcrowding on the pan so the chicken cooks just right.
- Check the Temperature: A meat thermometer ensures the chicken reaches 160°F.
- Rest After Broiling: Let the skewers sit for a couple of minutes after cooking to lock in juices before serving.
- Add Sauce Just Before Serving: Drizzle or brush on the sauce just before eating.
