I Learned How To Make These Burgers From A Grilling Legend!
I got to attend BUSH’S BBQ Bootcamp with the grilling legend himself, Steven Raichlen (yep, the guy who’s written 28 grilling books and teaches at Harvard).
It was such a cool experience, and I picked up so many great tips, especially when it comes to building the ultimate burger. I’ve been so excited to share everything I learned!
This burger is hands down a reliable one to make, and it couldn’t be easier. I’m also sharing my go-to corn salsa and the best sauce to top it off. Let’s do this!

Hamburger Recipe Ingredients
| Ingredient | straightforward Tip or Swap |
|---|---|
| Ground beef (80/20) | Use cold beef straight from the fridge. |
| Garlic | Fresh minced is best. |
| Green onions | Slice them thin so the flavor spreads evenly in the patties. |
| Worcestershire sauce | Don’t overdo it or it takes over. |
| Cheddar cheese | Shred your own for best melt. |
| Brioche buns | Any soft bun works, just toast it. |
| Burger sauce | Adjust the sauce’s heat by adding more or less chipotle sauce or try this crack burger sauce. |

Tips I Learned From The Grill Master
- Grill Prep: Clean grill, then oil with a paper towel and tongs.
- Meat Temperature: Keep meat cold and handle minimally.
- Mixing Beef: Mix lightly to avoid crumbly patties.
- Flipping Burgers: Flip without pressing to retain juices.
- Spatula Choice: Use a wide metal spatula for easier handling.
- Resting: Rest burgers post-grilling for 1-2 minutes for juices to re-distribute.

Storage
Store cooked hamburger patties in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. Keep buns and toppings separate so nothing gets soggy. Reheat gently or enjoy cold.
