Foil Pack Ramen Noodles

Foil Pack Ramen Noodles is a recipe I’m so excited to share! It is satisfying to summer camping and foil-pack meals, and this one turned out AMAZING!

I’ve shared foil pack chicken, pork, shrimp, and beef, but getting the noodles just right was tricky until now!

After some trial and error, I finally nailed it! These noodles are saucy, tender, and packed with veggies and sausage. It’s a satisfying and straightforward meal that the whole family will love!

Ingredients In Foil Pack Ramen Noodles

  • Ramen Noodles: The base of the dish. Any flavor works since you won’t use the seasoning packets. Save or toss the packets, but don’t add them to this recipe!
  • Smoked Sausage: Use your favorite kind! Turkey sausage is lighter. I like a mix of beef and pork sausage.
  • Frozen Corn and Shelled Edamame (or Peas): Adds texture and flavor with no extra prep. Use them straight from the freezer—no need to thaw or boil first.

Sauce Ingredients

  • Cornstarch: Thickens the sauce.
  • Lite (Low-Sodium) Soy Sauce: Adds a salty, satisfying flavor. Low-sodium helps control saltiness.
  • Sriracha Sauce: Gives a spicy kick. Adjust to your heat preference, but reducing it will also reduce flavor.
  • Brown Sugar: Balances the spiciness with sweetness. Adjust to taste.
  • Chicken Broth: Adds more flavor than water.
  • Toasted Sesame Oil: Adds a great flavor. Make sure it’s toasted, not regular.
  • Garlic Paste and Ginger Paste: Adds depth to the sauce.

Cooking Shortcuts

Keep prep short for Foil Pack Ramen Noodles:

  • Use Frozen Veggies: No prep needed. Shelled edamame and corn cook evenly in the foil pack.
  • Store-Bought Shortcuts: Use pre-sliced green onions, refrigerated ginger paste, and garlic paste. You can also use garlic and ginger cubes from the freezer section.
  • Prepare Sauce Ahead: Make the sauce in advance and store in a mason jar in the fridge for quicker prep. Give it a good shake before using.
  • Use Smoked Sausage: It’s pre-cooked, so just heat it in the foil packs. This saves time.
  • Soak the Ramen: Soak noodles in hot tap water while prepping other ingredients. No need to boil ahead of time!

Foil Pack Ramen Noodles Recipe Tips

  • Use Heavy Foil: Prevent tearing and ensure even cooking with heavy-duty foil. Spray with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Extra-wide foil makes it easier to wrap.
  • Soak Ramen Right: Follow the recipe to soak the ramen properly for even cooking.
  • Fold Right: Seal the foil packs well but leave some space for steam.
  • Let Rest: Let the foil packets sit for a minute after cooking to let the food rest and flavors to intensify.
  • Watch for Steam: Open the packets carefully to avoid steam burns. Use tongs or oven mitts for safety.

Quick Tip

Is it safe to cook with foil? The CDC says there are no big risks with using foil in home cooking. (Read here and here).
