Chick-Fil-A Sauce in 5 Minutes or Less!
Chick-Fil-A is hands-down my boys’ all-time favorite fast food. If they had a choice, they’d eat it for every single meal.
They love it so much that I’ve already recreated their famous chicken sandwich, coleslaw, kale salad, chicken tenders, nuggets, and even the chicken salad sandwiches at home.
So of course, I had to tackle their famous dipping sauce too! Now I can whip it up anytime I’m serving one of those meals. It couldn’t be simpler to make, and it tastes exactly like the original. My kids expect a jar in the fridge at all times, and It is satisfying to that my from-scratch version has a much shorter ingredient list than the store-bought bottle.

What Is The Chick-Fil-A Sauce Made Of?
| Ingredient | What to Know |
|---|---|
| Fresh coleslaw dressing | Litehouse or Marie’s work best. Found in the refrigerated produce section. Shelf-stable dressings won’t give the same flavor. |
| Honey roasted BBQ sauce | Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ® is a great pick and brings a sweet smoky flavor. |
| Yellow mustard | Stick with classic yellow mustard. Do not swap with Dijon because the flavor is very different. |

Excellent, excellent dipping sauce! Chik-Fil-A gave me mustard instead of mustard sauce, so I scrambled to find a taste-alike. Instead of pitching the leftover like planned, I’ve got it in my fridge. This is THE one to make!!!

How To Make Chick-Fil-A Sauce
Making this recipe couldn’t be easier. Here’s the quick process:
- Measure out the three ingredients into a mixing bowl.
- Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust. If you want it sweeter, add a touch more BBQ sauce. If you want it tangier, add a little extra mustard.

Not in my version of the recipe! But, if you aren’t able to find the coleslaw dressing or would prefer the sauce to include mayo, I have also worked through and tested an alternate recipe that tastes nearly identical! Here’s the breakdown:
- Salt and pepper. A little pinch of salt and pepper goes a long way in rounding out flavors and balancing ingredients.
- 3/4 cup real mayo. Use full-fat mayo for the best possible dipping sauce. Hellmann’s/Best Foods® is a reliable.
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard. Again, not Dijon–it won’t taste quite right here.
- 3 tablespoons honey. I wouldn’t consider this sauce overly sweet, but it does have a touch of sweetness. If you’re concerned about that, add the honey slowly and to taste.
- 2 tablespoons honey BBQ sauce. We like Sweet Baby Ray’s Honey BBQ® sauce best in this recipe (not sponsored).
- skippable: 1 and 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice. The juice adds a nice rounding flavor and a touch of acidity to the sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 cup prepared coleslaw dressing (see note 1)
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 6 tablespoons honey BBQ sauce (see note 2)
- 3/4 cup mayo
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons honey BBQ sauce
- 1 lemon (skippable)
- Salt (to taste)
Method
- To prepare the 3-ingredient sauce, whisk the ingredients together. Add a tiny pinch of salt and pepper. check the seasoning and adjust anything to personal preference. Chill in the fridge or use it immediately!
- Juice the lemon with a citrus juicer to get 1-1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Whisk the juice together with the other 4 ingredients. Add salt and pepper to taste. I add 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. check the seasoning and adjust anything to personal preference. Chill in the fridge or use immediately.
