Make Your Own Apple Pie Spice!
I go through a ridiculous amount of McCormick’s apple pie spice and pumpkin pie spice come fall, and I was getting tired of paying $4-$5 for just a few tablespoons. So, after checking the labels on a reliable apple pie spice blend and experimenting with the quantities, I’m excited to share this recipe with you.
This spice blend is so versatile! It can turn a boring jar of overnight oats into something you’ll actually look forward to eating in the morning. Spices are such a game-changer, and mixing a few together? You’re going to love it!

How to Make Apple Pie Spice
It doesn’t get easier than this!
- Measure out cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, and cloves.
- Whisk them together in a small bowl until evenly combined.
- Store in a small airtight jar in a cool, dry place.
Quick Tip
For just 1 tablespoon of apple pie spice, whisk together 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 3/4 teaspoons of nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom.

Gifting Apple Pie Spice Recipe
It is satisfying to gifting these cute spice blends to friends, family, or co-workers. Just add a from-scratch label (Download FREE printable labels here) on brown Kraft sticker paper and stick it to a small glass jar. I use this label paper.
Storage
This apple pie spice recipe typically lasts about 6 months to a year when stored in an airtight container, away from heat, light, and moisture.
For the best flavor, it’s ideal to use it within 6 months, as the spices will start to lose their potency over time.
