author’s note
Pretzel. Rolo. Pecan. Perfection!
Years ago my neighbor would bring a big plate of Christmas treats to our door. It always had fudge, peppermint cookies, and these Rolo Pretzel Turtles. I remember biting into one and thinking it was the most amazing thing I had ever eaten.
It made the whole plate feel special. For the longest time I thought they had to be tricky to make. Years later I finally asked how she did it and laughed at how simple it was. Pretzels, Rolos, a pecan on top, and a quick warm in the oven. Now I make them every holiday, and sometimes I use candied pecans for a sweet little crunch.

Ingredients
| Ingredient | Swaps or Notes |
|---|---|
| Pretzels (twists or snaps) | Use gluten free pretzels if needed. Use leftovers in these pretzel clusters. |
| Rolos | Any chocolate caramel candy that softens in the oven works. Unwrap all first. |
| Pecan halves | Candied pecans add a sweet crunch. Plain are great too. For nut free, use M&M’s or a pretzel piece. |
| Flaky sea salt (skippable) | Sprinkle while warm so it sticks. A tiny pinch is enough. |

How To Make Rolo Pretzel Turtles
- Heat Oven: Set to 350°F.
- Prepare Pan: Line a sheet pan with a baking mat and place pretzels in a single layer.
- Add Candy: Place one unwrapped candy on each pretzel.
- Bake: Bake 2–3 mins, watching carefully so the candies don’t over-melt.
- Add Pecans: Press a pecan gently into each softened candy right out of the oven.
- Finish: Sprinkle sea salt flakes on top if desired.
Rolo Pretzel Turtles Tips
- Fresh Nuts: Use fresh pecans for the best crunch and flavor.
- Toast Pecans: skippable, but adds more flavor.
- Unwrap Rolos First: Have all Rolos unwrapped and ready before baking for easier prep.
- Let Cool: Let candies cool fully before moving to keep the chocolate neat. Use a small spatula to lift them.

Storage
- Room Temp: Store any leftover Rolo Pretzel Turtles in a container for up to 1 week.
- Fridge: Keep up to 2 weeks; let sit a few minutes before eating.
- Freeze: Freeze for up to 3 months; thaw for a few minutes at room temp.
