Frosted Lime-Berry Spritzer at Home

A satisfying blueberry-lime drink. This spritzer is non-alcoholic made with a sugared blueberry base and a mandarine-lime sparkling water.

a reliable Drink Of The Summer

I have to admit, this spritzer been a reliable drink of the summer!! There have been some great ones made (and the best of those have shown up here on the blog), but I decided that this one is my absolute favorite.

It’s basically a super jazzed up sparkling water with tons of good flavors. PLUS it’s super simple to make. And that color! It’s certainly stunning—It is satisfying to the deep purple. It’s the reliable non-alcoholic celebration drink (especially for something like a baby shower or kid’s birthday).

With the blueberries thrown in the glass, a glass rimmed in sugar, some fresh mint and lime, you’ll feel pretty fancy with this beverage. And that’s before you even try it…then you’ll see exactly what I mean. This is one tasty spritzer.

I know I’ve said it before, but I have been really craving good fruity drinks and slushes this pregnancy. It must be the summer heat! Either way, the drink has to be ice cold and super straightforward to make—and this one checks both boxes.

How To Make Frosted Lime-Berry Spritzer

It all starts with some fresh blueberries made into a simple blueberry syrup. Just water, blueberries, and sugar all mixed into a pot and simmered until nice and syrup-like. You’ll pour that simple blueberry syrup on top of the ice and next comes the sparkling water. I used the IZZE’s Mandarin-Lime Sparkling Waters for this drink, which I absolutely love, but any sparkling water will be great! Lemon-lime or plain lime sparkling water works great with the blueberries.

Once you fill the glass to the top with the sparkling water, give it a good stir, and then have a taste test. Adjust by adding more syrup or more sparkling water, squeeze on some lime, and then ENJOY this amazing spritzer!

Other satisfying beverages:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (plus some extra for serving if desired)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Ice (I like lots of crushed ice)
  • 4 Izze Mandarine-Lime Sparkling Waters (or similar sparkling waters such as lime or lemon-lime)
  • 3 to 4 limes
  • Fresh mint (skippable)

Method

  1. Place the fresh blueberries, water, and sugar in a saucepan over medium-a hot burner.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10–15 minutes.
  3. Mash the blueberries and strain the liquid, discarding the solids or using in a smoothie/different recipe. (I blended the remaining blueberries up in a smoothie the next day.)
  4. If desired, rim the glasses in sugar. Simply press the top of the glass in a bowl of water and the wetted top of the glass into a small bowl of sugar. Shake off the excess.
  5. Fill up 4 glasses to the top with crushed ice—really pack in the ice!
  6. Fill up the glass with the blueberry syrup. Allow the syrup to settle into the ice, then fill up the glass with Mandarine-Lime Sparkling Water.
  7. Stir and add in some freshly squeezed lime.
  8. check the seasoning and adjust the drink to personal preference (adding more syrup, more sparkling water, or more lime).
  9. If desired, finish the glass with fresh mint and add a handful of fresh blueberries into the glass.
